The National Library of Luxembourg is offering, an extensive, publicly accessible, digital library at a-z.lu . The current offer (May 2017) consists of 53.000 electronic journal titles, 310.000 scientific eBooks and 350 specialised databases and reference platforms in English, French and German.
a-z.lu includes a lot of IT related content:
- The continually updated “Safari Books Online” collection with 32.000 books and 6.000 videos from 100s of renowned publishers such as O’Reilly Media, Addison Wesley, Cisco Press, Peachpit Press, … .
- Access to a complete collection of current computer science and conferences through the ACM Digital Library, IEEE Xplore Library, Lecture Notes in Computer Science, … .
To help concentrate while coding, an additional 150.000 classical and jazz records can be streamed from the Naxos Music library.
Access to this content and much more is available via www.a-z.lu, the National Library’s search engine, which also indexes the bibnet.lu library network of about 80 libraries, the digitised heritage collections of eluxemburgensia.lu and the University’s repository ORBilu.
A valid national library card is required, which can be obtained for free, from the age of 14 years, at the National Library’s premises: 37, boulevard F.D. Roosevelt, L-2450 Luxembourg, (right next to the Cathedral). This digital library is managed by the National Library’s “findit.lu consortium luxembourg” project, which also provides digital library services to the University of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, the Luxembourg Institute of Health, the Max-Planck Institute Luxembourg and the Ministère de la Fonction Publique et de la Réforme Administrative through the “Bibliothèque Gouvernementale Numérique” bibgouv.findit.lu (link: http://bibgouv.findit.lu) service. The “findit.lu consortium luxembourg” also manages ebooks.lu (link: http://www.ebooks.lu), a project offering patrons of 12 public libraries access to about 80.000 fiction and non-fiction eBooks in French, German and English.
